Cubity

A student home of the future

How should students live in the future? Through the creation of an experimental, full-scale dormitory named “Cubity”, 35 students from the Darmstadt Technical University have come up with an inspired answer. Cubity is designed with 12 dwellings around a central hall. Crowning the hall is a low-pitched VELUX ridgelight that not only makes the common area bright and airy, but also offers good natural ventilation to the dorm rooms, using the stack effect as a catalyst for efficient airing.
